<p>Where Greater Manchester gives way to the open countryside and the moors of Saddleworth. To-day&#8217;s walks explore the moorlands and reservoirs to the south of the railway.</p>

Connections (requiring a change at Salford Crescent) from Blackpool North at 07.44, Preston 08.12 and Chorley 08.22. Connection from Clitheroe departs 07.40 calling all stations to Blackburn 08.03. Connection from Colne at 06.50 (or travel to M/C by bus), Burnley Cen. 07.03, Accrington 07.19 &#8211; change at Blackburn. Return from Greenfield at 51 min past each hour.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s some time since we walked in Luddenden Dean and the moors north of Sowerby whilst Norland Moor to the south also gives access to some excellent walking country and we have never walked paths into Halifax from this direction.</p>

<p>TRAVEL DETAILS: N.B. Passengers on the train from Blackpool North will have to change at Hebden Bridge.The train departs Blackpool North at 08.29 calling at Preston 08.54, Blackburn 09.10, Accrington 09.17, and Burnley M/c Road 09.26.Connections to Preston from Chorley at 08.11, to Blackburn from Clitheroe at 08.26 (calling at all Ribble Valley stations) and from Bamber Bridge at 08.30. At Hebden Bridge we shall join those travelling from Manchester Victoria on the 09.22 from Victoria for the short journey to Mytholmroyd &amp; Sowerby Bridge.</p>
<p>Return from Halifax to B&#8217;pool Nrth at 25 min past each hour and at 12 and 44 min past each hour to Manchester Vic. From Sowerby Bridge the only trains to B&#8217;pool Nrth which stop there are at 16.31 and 17.31 otherwise catch the Manchester train at 19 or 59 and change at Hebden Bridge on to the 38 min past each hour departure to Blackpool Nrth.</p>

Connections to Preston from Blackpool North at 07.44, Chorley at 07.58. Connection to Blackburn from Cltheroe at 07.40 and from Bolton at 07.42.</p>
<p>Return from Colne at 50 min past the hour or 5 min later at Nelson.</p>

<p>EAST LANCS COMMUNITY RAIL WALKS</p>
<p>We are awaiting the next ELCRP Brochure from LCC but details of the next walk are as follows:</p>
<p>SATURDAY, MAY 19TH  -     A MOORLAND WALK</p>
<p>Alight Entwistle &amp; return Accrington          10 miles moderate</p>
<p>From Entwistle Station the route will be via Wayoh Bridge, Moorside Road, Crowthorne Reservoir, Scholes Height, Barnes Height, Rushy Leach, Heap Clough, Thirteen Stone Hill, Accrington Moor, Iccenhurst and the old railway track into Accrington.</p>
<p>The walk will commence at 10.34 after the arrival of the trains from Blackburn and Bolton. Please inform the guard that you wish to alight at Entwistle.</p>

<p>The next ELCRP WALK will take place on Wednesday, June 6th starting at Brierfield at 10.19 and returning from Nelson.</p>

<p>*WAYFARER TICKETS – WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (NB NOT required for Community Rail Walks)</p>
<p>Wayfarer Tickets must be purchased in advance from manned stations in  Greater Manchester, Chorley or Clitheroe &amp; Nelson Interchanges. The  tickets cost £10.00 for adults or £5.oo for the over 60′s (no proof of  age required) and others are available for groups or children. The  tickets are of a scratchcard type and must be validated with the date of  travel.</p>
<p>Tickets can also be ordered in advance from: Wayfarer Ticket Sales,  GMPTE, Wythenshawe, Manchester, M22 5RG. If ordering by post please send  a cheque made payable to GMPTE and leave at least a week for reply.</p>
