Latest News from Lancashire Rail Ramblers

May 10th, 2008

If you have a copy of the latest Walks’ Programme you will know that Howard Hammersley has decided not to organise further Programmes. Fortunately, a group made up of  Rail Rambler Committee members and supporters have decided to carry on Howard’s work and organise a series of guided walks up until December 2008.

Provisional dates and destinations are listed below. Bear in mind that these are provisional and will be confirmed shortly and the next Walks’ Programme will be available in June. The aim is to make the Walks’ Programme more freely available and therefore increase the number of  people joining the Rail Rambler trips. N.B. All Rail Rambler walks are open for any member of the public to join provided they travel on public transport.

July 5th  Hebden Bridge  An opportunity to walk in this area in summer

August 9th  Kendal and Oxenholme

September 6th  Glossop

October 4th  Windermere

November  1st  Littleborough

November 22nd Carnforth & Silverdale

December 27th  West Pennine Moors

A ‘Past Landscapes’ Walk’ around Macclesfield on August 23rd will enable people to discover something of the interesting history of this former silk textile town. The walk will be led by Stuart Leese. We are hoping that another in the ‘Past Landscape’ series will take  us to Pilling and Preesall but are awaiting confirmation of the date. This will be led by Howard Hammersley.
